.: Help for salvage The salvage command lets you break down items to recover crafting materials. Your skill determines how much you recover -- higher skill means better returns. ━━━ Usage ━━━ salvage- Break down an item for materials. salvage 2.sword Disambiguate with diku-style numbering. ━━━ What Can Be Salvaged ━━━ Any item that was produced by a crafting recipe, plus certain special items marked as salvageable. Spoiled or declining potions can also be salvaged, yielding binding paste. Items that were never crafted and have no salvageable components cannot be broken down. ━━━ Where to Salvage ━━━ Crafted items can be salvaged for free at the station where they were made -- swords at the forge, potions at the alchemy bench, cloth at the loom, and so on. Alternatively, buy a salvage kit from Fence Dealer Siv in Thornwall's back alleys. With the kit in your pack, you can salvage anywhere. The kit is consumed on each use. ━━━ How It Works ━━━ Salvage always destroys the item, even if no materials are recovered. Each ingredient has a chance to be recovered based on your salvage skill. At low skill you may get nothing back; at high skill you recover most materials. Salvaging takes several rounds depending on the complexity of the item being broken down. ━━━ Tips ━━━ Items must be in your backpack -- unequip gear first. Salvage cannot be done during combat. If attacked mid-salvage, the work is interrupted and the item is not consumed. See Also: help craft, help skills
