Each species has a distinct body plan that determines what mutations can take hold. A wolf cannot grow extra arms; a snake cannot have extra legs; an ice elemental's crystalline form cannot grow skin that camouflages. Some species also have natural traits that behave like baseline mutations — a wolf's tail, a vampire's regenerative tissue, an ascended being's resistance to magic. These intrinsic traits stack with any mutations the creature acquires. Species are affected by Size: Small - 1-Handed weapons require 2 hands. 2-Handed weapons cannot be used.
