.: Help for toxicity

Every potion you drink leaves something behind. Toxicity is what
builds up, and how much your body will take is your tolerance.

━━━ Tolerance Is Earned ━━━

Your tolerance grows mainly through alchemy. Working with
reagents, handling fumes and tasting your own brews teaches
your body to cope with them. The more skilled a brewer you
become, the more you can drink before it tells on you.

Vitality helps as well, but practice is what carries you
furthest. A seasoned brewer will out-last a far hardier
character who has never touched a still.

━━━ How It Works ━━━

Drinking a potion adds its toxicity to your total.
Toxicity fades on its own, a little at a time.
If a potion would take you past your limit, your body
refuses it and the potion is not consumed.
Dying clears your toxicity completely, along with every
  potion effect you were carrying.

━━━ What You Will Feel ━━━

Watch the status screen, or add the toxicity tag to your
prompt with set-prompt. It moves through these stages:

  clear nothing to speak of
sour a faint taste you cannot wash away
  unsettled your stomach is uneasy

Neither of those two costs you anything. They are a warning,
so you can see it coming.

  queasy senses dull, recovery slows
  sick reflexes suffer as well
critical recovery and awareness both fail badly,
and the poison starts doing real harm

At critical the toxicity also clears more slowly, so it
is far easier to get into than out of. Do not sit there.

━━━ Spoiled Potions ━━━

Drinking a spoiled potion inflicts far more toxicity than a
good one and causes nausea. Skilled alchemists can detect
spoiled brews by examining them, so look for the telltale
  signs.

━━━ Purging ━━━

A purging draught strips every potion effect you are carrying
and clears your toxicity with them. It leaves you badly
weakened for a while afterwards, so it is a way out of
trouble rather than a routine part of drinking.
